In Partnership with Asset Finance International Online Briefing Will Address Latest
FASB/IASB Changes
International Decision Systems® (IDS), the leading provider of asset finance software, and Asset Finance International, the leading online source of news and information for the leasing industry, announced today the second webinar in a series of authoritative and independent lease accounting briefings to be held April 6, 2011 at 11am EST.
This new informational webinar aims to update participants on any new decisions announced by the FASB and IASB since the companies’ last webinar briefing on January 27th, an event which exceeded expectations by attracting hundreds of attendees from around the globe.
“Leaders from all across the asset finance industry are eager to learn where the path of lease accounting seems to be heading, “said Terry Welty, Chief Marketing Officer at IDS. “Companies want to know how they can best prepare for any changes on the horizon and how soon any new standards are likely to take effect. This webinar series enables us to quickly disseminate information to as wide an audience as possible.”
Alan Leesmith, Director of the IAA-Advisory, will chair this latest webinar and will again invite industry experts to make predictions on the likely final outcome of many outstanding issues that surround the proposed new lease accounting standard. Slated speakers include:
-
Mark Venus, Member of the IASB/FASB Joint Working Group; Project Director, BNP Paribas; Chair of Leaseurope’s Accounting and Taxation Committee;
-
Rodney W. Hurd, Chair of the ELFA Financial Accounting Committee; Chief Financial Officer, Bridgeway Capital Advisors, Inc.;
-
Katie Emmel, Senior Director of Product Management, International Decision Systems; and
-
Andy Thompson, Legal and Regulatory Editor, Asset Finance International.
In particular, presenters will give their analyses on key points such as: where the boards are expected to draw the line on lease definition, how several outstanding lessor accounting issues may be resolved, how recent board proposals begin to address the problem of embedded leases, and what the eventual transition plan may look like.
Registration begins today and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis due to the high rate of expected responses. Interested participants are encouraged to sign-up early.
